Tony Benn / Roy Bailey The Writing on the Wall

Bristol South’s much-loved MP for many years, and a legend in local, national and international politics for more than half a century, Tony Benn needs no introduction, save – perhaps – for his long-running role in this inspired concert duo with radical folk-singer Roy Bailey. The recipe is simple yet devastatingly effective: Roy sings a song, Tony talks, and then they do it again, tracing a line of protest from the Peasants’ Revolt to the Iraq war, and then some. You will be shaken and stirred, moved to tears and hopefully action, by their wit, passion and humanity.
PS There’s a Roy Bailey track (his amazing cover of a Holly Near’s I Ain’t Afraid) that I “remixed”* in this radio show.* stuck an unreleased gusset track over the top of it
